A Christopher Dresser sterling silver claret jug

I am delighted to add another sterling silver piece by Christopher Dresser to the Collection. To my mind he is without doubt the father of both modern and commercial design.  Pieces that are unequivocally designed by Dresser and of the period in sterling silver are rare.

This jug, model 2267, is hallmarked for Hukin and Heath and London, 1884, for whom Dresser did the original design in 1881.  The jug carries the impressed registration mark for his design. Hukin and Heath plated versions are rare, sterling silver pieces, like this one are rare. For an identical plated example see ” Christopher Dresser, A Design Revolution” by Michael Whiteway, page 147.

Condition is excellent.
