A near pair of small silver Liberty & Co vases inset with fire opals

A near pair of silver and fire opal vases by Liberty & Co and designed by Bernard Cuzner.  Both dated Birmingham 1901, one inset with orange fire opal, the other with more pink/blue opals.  A larger version of the same design can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum, silver gallery ref M.305-1975.

See article by myself, Anthony Bernbaum, entitled “The Origins of the Liberty Cymric Range”  in the Archibald Knox Society Journal 2014 Volume III, Page 26.  Bernard Cuzner was Head  of Metalwork  the Birmingham School of Art from 1910 –1942 and is well known as one of Liberty’s other leading silver designers after Archibald Knox.
