For sale is this stunning necklace in silver with moonstones, small pearls and green chrysoprase by Arthur and Georgie Gaskin. The necklace was exhibited at the Court Barn Museum exhibition on the Gaskins, exhibit J23, and the catalogue entry giving full provenance can be found at this link. It is marked with the Gaskin’s G motif to the reverse. The design drawing for this necklace is in the Gaskins’ drawing book held at the V&A (Ref E695-1969). As with many of their designs the Gaskins gave this piece a name which appears faintly on the drawing, being “Estelle”.
The necklace is in excellent original condition, with a longstanding alteration, possibly extension, to the upper chain only.
For further information on the Gaskins and similar designs to this see Elyse Zorn Karlin, “Jewelry and Metalwork in the Arts and Crafts Tradition” and “Arthur and Georgie Gaskin” a catalogue by Cheltenham Museum, 1981.
