An Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co silver drinks holder

Price : Sold

A Cymric silver drinks holder by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co, with particularly fine Celtic knot designs to the base and handle.  Overall a very modern design by Knox that still shows his Manx heritage. This is the only known example and will appear in Dr Stephen Martin’s forthcoming third edition of his book on Knox.

Shown “ready to go” with dark whisky!  The silver is marked 1051 which is the exact model number of the same design in the Liberty Silver Sketch Book at Westminster Archives which is categorised under “Decanters”, page 311. In excellent condition, with replacement hand blown bottles to the same design in the Sketch Book.

This piece was exhibited 12th October to 13th January at the Manx Museum Douglas, Isle of Man, exhibition, “Archibald Knox – Artist, Designer and Teacher”.
