Rare Morecambe School set of six silver spoons

Price range: SOLD

For sale is this rare set of six silver tea or coffee spoons marked for Morecambe HEC (Higher Education College).  Morecambe HEC was where Thomas Sparks, one of the Keswick School of Industrial Arts most celebrated metalworkers, taught from c 1908.  He established a small “School or Guild” at the College producing a very small range of output.

The spoons all date to Birmingham 1909 and so are very early in Sparks tenure at the College. The influence  of the Keswick School of Industrial Art is clear.
